The difference that a year (with therapies and practice) makes. A year and a half ago we would not have been able to be at a park like this with all the sounds, kids, and squeals.
I distinctly remember being at the same park and Evan being on the top of one of the play sets and kids squealing like they do in this video. Normal squeals, squeals many little kids make. It threw Evan off enough so much, that he shot out his hands to the sky and fall off the top of the playset. Luckily I was at the bottom to catch him.
It is easy as a parent with a kiddo with challenging needs, to shy away from going out. In fact many stay inside or struggle to muster up enough energy to get out. I get it, I really do. And it's isolating. And at the end of the day, our kids need us continually trying and continually getting them out there, even when we don't feel like it ourselves. Encouraging them to keep "working through the hard stuff." This makes it all worth it!
